About

As an illustrator, I'm inspired by the art and creative collaboration of the Red Rose Girls. As a film director, I see myself reflected in Violet Oakley and her deep-seated drive to change the world through her art. In today's culture of outrage, when civilized discourse seems impossible, the story of Oakley's struggle is especially timely. I'm excited to bring my visual flair to this unique and compelling story.

Kate Emery is an illustrator for film and televsion. Works include HBO's Watchmen, Jenji Kohan's Slutty Teenage Bounty Hunters, Fox's The Passage, and AMC's Lodge 49. The Red Rose Girls will be Kate's second directorial effort after her award-winning short, Bad Influences.
